Crossroads & numbers – a book of poetry
It was after watching a rock bank perform on TV in Junee of 1980 that I began writing poetry in English. The enthusiastic lead guitarist got so excited that he threw his precious instrument against the wall at the end of the show. I remember thinking how sad the smashed guitar looked on the floor by the wall. It was broken to pieces and quiet as a dead bird. This experience affected me so much that I wrote a poem about it that evening and called it “The Broken Guitar”. This, indeed, was how my poetry in English started.
